Tania MOURAUD

Born in 1942, in Paris, France where she currently lives and works
Revealed in the 1960s through her painting, the artist Tania Mouraud has developed an unclassifiable practice over the decades, ranging from performance and photography to murals and videos.
In 1968, the artist burned all her paintings in a public auto-da-fé to wipe out the past and begin a new chapter in her career. Following this, Tania Mouraud constantly renewed her practice, creating works which, whatever their form, often require deciphering, witnessing the artist’s sharpened work on perception. In 1989, Tania Mouraud returned to painting and produced “Words”, which inaugurated a long series of writings, making the plasticity of language a medium of protest that became the emblem of her artistic expression.
