Thomas HIRSCHHORN
Switzerland/France

Born in 1957, in Bern, Switzerland
Lives and works in Paris, France
Radical and committed, Thomas Hirschhorn has been a major figure in contemporary art since the 1980s. As if to materialize a precarious world on the verge of destruction, his hybrid, dense and chaotic works are permeated by the questions, contradictions, scandals and major ills of contemporary society.
The artist uses makeshift materials such as cardboard, aluminum foil, brown adhesive tape, plastic, photocopies, magazine images, etc. to create his politically and socially committed collages, displays and sculptures. By inscribing his comments or questions on societal themes, the artist generates spaces for reflection for the viewer.
