Pierre ARDOUVIN
France

Born in 1955, in Crest, France
Lives and works in Paris, France
Pierre Ardouvin’s work, which appeared in the early 1990s, uses a great economy of means to conjure up strange visions out of everyday reality, sometimes disturbing in their contained violence. At once playful, familiar and disturbing, his installations, sculptures, photographs or drawings are constructed from simple materials, commonplace objects known to all, or even symbols of popular culture to question the memories of individual and collective memory. Based on an impression of déjà-vu, Pierre Ardouvin’s stagings have the capacity to trigger affects and emotions, indiscriminately mixing chaos, joy or nostalgia.
