Cleon PETERSON
USA

Born in 1973, in Seattle, United States
Lives and works in Los Angeles, United States
Cleon Peterson is a world-renowned street artist with an eventful life. His youth is strongly marked by illness, marginality and prison. Throughout his work, which belongs to a rich tradition of sociological art, he explores the darker impulses of contemporary society, structures of power, submission and violence, often depicting archetypal figures engaged in battle or acts of brutality. Devoid of meanings related to particular issues, identities or ideologies, his works instead question the demonisation of the Other and the constant state of war – both real and allegorical, physical and virtual – that has come to define the 21st century.
