Born in 1970, in Fairfax, United States
Lives and works in Washington DC, United States
Mark Jenkins is a street artist and sculptor who exhibits in public spaces and in the privacy of art galleries. His work is a combination of sculpture, installation, performance and social experimentation. The artist creates strikingly realistic, typically urban human figures, dressed in clothes and wearing wigs or bonnets. These sculptures, both funny and disturbing, create surreal scenes, unexpected experiences in which passers-by or visitors find themselves witnesses to a catastrophe that has just occurred or is about to occur. The artist documents this experience by photographing the reactions of people who discover his installations.
