MOT – Module of Temporality

Born in 2000 in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine.
Lives and works in Paris, France.

Lera Derkach mostly works in painting, graphics and collages. In her works, the artist shows a humorous, often distorted reflection of the reality that surrounds her.

Lera willingly uses images reduced to simple forms, similar to children’s drawings, where compositions occupy a space between the figurative and the abstract, and human forms simultaneously disappear and re-emerge. It is somewhat of an ambiguous language. The rich color of the works and slogans inspired by childhood memories, movies, literature and ads are elements of the code through which the artist interacts with the viewer. Conventionality and simplicity are communicative requirements of our time, and image is a kind of game that should evoke associations and through them – a parallel narrative to what is depicted on the canvas.
